George Penesis, P.E., AICP, is an engineer and planner with 20 years of experience, who brings a comprehensive understanding of environmental issues, regulatory requirements, and public concerns to his environmental, infrastructure, and transportation planning work.
He has directed the preparation of City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR), State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental documents for a wide range of projects; and serves as principal-in-charge for many of the firm’s on-call contracts with the Dormitory Authority State of New York, New York City Transit, MTA Capital Construction Company, and New York City Department of Environmental Protection.
Mr. Penesis has lectured in architectural acoustics at the City College of New York (CUNY) School of Architecture, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture; served as co-chairman of the Environmental Committee of the New York City Metro Chapter of the American Planning Association; and served as President of the Manhattan Chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, is a Licensed Professional Engineer in New York State, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
