New Emission Rules for Boilers

On February 21, 2011, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) issued National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) and Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards for boilers, requiring the reduction of emissions of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).

These rules pose stringent emission limits for solid and liquid fuel-fired boilers. In addition, NYC has proposed changes to the local law pertaining to the phase out of #4 and #6 fuel oil.
