AKRF Partners with Planning Team for New Jobs Study in Newburgh

AKRF is part of a planning team for a new jobs study in Newburgh, a community in New York’s Hudson Valley.

As detailed in the Hudson Valley Press, the Newburgh Community Action Committee received a Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) grant from the New York Department of State to conduct a Nomination Study. The study will address how the Northern Newburgh BOA and underutilized sites can be revitalized with more job opportunities and green city planning.

AKRF will prepare a detailed economic development plan for properties located in the proposed BOA. The plan will emphasize the identification and reuse potential of priority brownfield and underutilized sites that are catalysts for revitalization with special attention given to advancing development of strategic sites.

In addition, AKRF’s work will include preparing financial pro forum development analyses of alternative development scenarios, as well as environmental sustainability assessments of alternative development plans to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and global climate change factors.
