AKRF Presents Improvement Plan for Plandome Road in North Hempstead, NY

AKRF presented an improvement plan for Plandome Road in the Town of North Hempstead, NY, in a February 23, 2010 meeting at the Town’s high school.
AKRF is providing engineering design services for North Hempstead associated with roadway and safety improvements along a 1-mile segment of Plandome Road, the main arterial through Manhasset.
As reported in the Manhasset Press article covering the meeting, AKRF emphasized the safety and function on Plandome Road in a plan that would be developed in multiple phases.
AKRF is also viewing the project from a landscape design perspective, with proposed improvements anticipated to beautify the area.
The project is funded as part of the Federal Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program through New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to promote and improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclist commuting to school.
