Canoeing the Bronx River

Part of the Greenway plan

Bronx River Greenway, New York, NY
AKRF is preparing an Environmental Assessment, permit applications, and wetland mitigation program for a Class I multi-use path along a one-mile stretch of the lower Bronx River in New York City. Where technically feasible, bulkheaded shoreline on the project site will be regraded and naturalized. Intertidal wetlands will be recreated in these areas and planted with native vegetation, providing valuable habitat for macro-invertebrates, fish, and wading and shorebirds. Another important component of the project involves control of non-native and invasive vegetation in the wetlands and wooded areas of the project site and replanting with native vegetation.
