New Cassel Business Development Plan, New Cassel, NY
Although Nassau County, Long Island, is one of the wealthiest in the United States, the Hamlet of New Cassel's commercial corridor has experienced major disinvestment over the past two decades. The Town of North Hempstead has asked AKRF to prepare a Business Development Plan for the hamlet to help revitalize the hamlet’s blighted business district. The firm has prepared an analysis of existing demographic, land use, and business characteristics of the study area, with the goal of identifying gaps in the commercial inventory. A public outreach program is also underway. The effort also includes the development of a marketing plan to create a new image or "brand" for downtown New Cassel, to express the community’s commitment to their neighborhood, and to convey the Town’s intention to improve the economic climate for investment. Revitalization of the core of New Cassel is underway.
