Fred Jacobs Re-Appointed to Maryland State Water Quality Advisory Committee

AKRF is pleased to announce that Dr. Fred Jacobs, a senior vice president and head of the firm’s Natural Resources group, has been appointed to another three-year term as a member of the Maryland State Water Quality Advisory Committee. Jacobs’ term will be from 2010 to 2012.

Jacobs has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of marine science, aquatic impact assessment, and fish ecology. His particular expertise is in the environmental impact of changing land use activities on water quality and biological communities in marine, estuarine, and freshwater habitats. He also has considerable experience in procuring environmental permits pertaining to waterfront development projects from governmental agencies on behalf of numerous clients. He has directed studies for public and private sector clients located in Maryland, New York, and New Jersey on a wide range of issues that include dredging, fisheries, wetlands, water quality modeling and certifications, and stormwater impacts.

The Maryland State Water Quality Advisory Committee consists of representatives from local governments, economic interests, and citizens groups. The committee was established to advise the Maryland Department of the Environment and Maryland Department of Natural Resources on emerging water quality issues and legislation.
