NJTPA GHG Emission Inventory Forecast
For the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), AKRF was part of a team responsible for developing a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory and forecast for the 13 counties in northern New Jersey.
The purpose of the inventory was to quantify the kinds and amount of climate-changing gases emitted in the region and to allocate total GHG emissions at the county and municipal level. The inventory also served as a baseline for future emission projections, and as such, was intended to help state, regional, and local policy makers and citizens understand the existing sources of GHG emissions so that well-informed policy decisions can be made to reduce these emissions.
AKRF also undertook extensive data collection and analysis, providing assistance to NJTPA sub-regions in conducting additional inventory refinements, and facilitating interagency and stakeholder collaboration.
