AKRF’s GIS group specializes in performing shadow studies for environmental impact assessments and siting studies.
We develop digital three-dimensional models, reproduce solar shadows on sample days of the year, analyze shadow impacts on open spaces and other sun-sensitive resources, and create visually striking and intuitive diagrams and supporting documentation.
Our GIS group also produces other 3D-based studies, including solar radiation studies, visual impact assessments, and bulk study visualizations.
The scope of our services includes:
- Determining extent and duration of shadows from individual structures
- Visualizing shadow patterns and movement using three-dimensional models
- Finding the sunniest locations on a site over the course of a day and the year
