Long-Standing Municipal Planning Support for Mount Kisco, New York
AKRF has provided planning services to the Village of Mount Kisco for over 15 years. In addition to attending Planning Board meetings, AKRF conducts site plan, subdivision, and State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) reviews, and manages special Village projects concerning land use plans, zoning, traffic, hazardous materials monitoring, and capital improvement projects.
Two of the many projects completed by AKRF are:
Shoppers Park Downtown Revitalization
Shoppers Park is an award-winning downtown revitalization plan consisting of an aesthetically pleasing physical environment, enhanced security and lighting, improved parking and circulation, and economic development strategies.
The plan took advantage of physical assets in the village—such as small town appeal, historically strong commercial base, large parking areas, linear park between Village Hall and the main shopping area, etc.—to create an attractive, safe, and convenient government and commercial center within a beautifully landscaped environment.
Wetland Enhancement Park
The award-winning Wetland Enhancement Park was designed and constructed on a portion of a large New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) wetland on the edge of the village’s downtown.
As part of the plans for the Public Safety Complex, the project restored five acres of a marginal wetland into a diverse wetland system. As a result, the Wetland Enhancement Park is considered by NYSDEC to be a model mitigation project.
The project has integrated community planning and biological sciences to create an urban wetland restoration and enhancement project at a relatively large scale that is unparalleled in Westchester County.
