Engineering Support for New York City’s Schools
AKRF is the prime consultant to the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) for on-call civil engineering and landscape design services. The services under this contract are for capital improvement projects in connection with playgrounds, athletic fields, and site work at various schools throughout New York City.
In addition to the on-call contract, AKRF frequently works with architects on the planning and design for new public and charter schools.
As the prime consultant, AKRF takes the lead role for design, project management, scheduling, and coordination with NYCSCA’s Architecture and Engineering Design Studio and the team of subconsultants.
Under this contract, AKRF performs the following:
- Site investigation
- Evaluation of site deficiencies
- Cost estimating and value engineering
- Playground restoration and athletic field design
- Modifications to stormwater management and drainage features
- Fence and retaining wall improvements
- Replacement of stairs, sidewalks, ramps, pavement, lighting, and playground furnishings
- Construction inspection and administration
