Battery Storage Project at Ravenswood Approved

The Public Service Commission approved construction of a 316-megawatt battery storage project at LS Power’s Ravenswood Generating Station in Queens, the largest installation in New York State to date. AKRF prepared an Expanded Environmental Assessment pursuant to SEQRA, as well as a New York City Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan Consistency Statement. The project is expected to store enough electricity to power over 250,000 households over an eight-hour period and would offset more carbon-intensive, on-peak generation with power stored during the off-peak periods.
