Groundbreaking Celebrated for Portal North Bridge in New Jersey

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Portal North Bridge – a two-track, fixed-structure railroad bridge across the Hackensack River near Newark, NJ, to replace the century-old Portal Bridge used by Amtrak and NJ Transit for commuter rail service to and from New York City. AKRF led the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement and secured environmental permits for the $1.8 billion project – with involvement in all planning, design, and engineering phases.
