130 William Street

A new 66-story residential tower is rising at 130 William Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. AKRF is leading civil engineering and permitting for the 242-unit, 800-foot-tall building, including the preparation of builder’s pavement plans, street tree plans, site utility connections, and vault permitting packages. We are also acoustical consultant and worked with the architectural design team to create acoustical isolation details that would be incorporated into the project drawing sets. AKRF reviewed the potential for intrusion of air- and structure-borne noise due to a half-court basketball court, fitness center, and emergency generator room and proposed practical solutions for areas of concern. 130 William Street includes an IMAX Private Theater featuring high audio and visual standards to create the ultimate immersive entertainment experience. The proximity of the building to two separate underground subway lines required careful evaluation of existing vibration and ground-borne noise, as well practical mitigation design for the basement-level IMAX Theater, which was mission-critical for the project.
