City Tech Academic Building

The New York City College of Technology, commonly referred to as City Tech, recently opened an award-winning, $410 million academic building in Downtown Brooklyn that creates a new campus gateway along Jay Street. The 365,000-square-foot, LEED Gold-certified building is home to classrooms, laboratories, healthcare clinics, conference/seminar rooms, a 1,000-seat theater, an 800-seat gymnasium, offices, and community areas. Programs served by the labs, clinics, and classrooms include restorative dentistry, dental hygiene, radiologic technology and medical imaging, nursing, health services administration, human services, and biological sciences and chemistry.

AKRF led the environmental analysis and documentation pursuant to New York State Environmental Quality Review Act requirements; provided site assessment/remediation services, including construction monitoring and leading the site through New York City’s Voluntary Cleanup Program; prepared archaeological surveys and investigations; and provided noise E-designation services. The new academic building opened in 2019 and has received numerous industry awards and honors.
