New Rochelle Complete Streets

New Rochelle in Westchester County, New York, retained AKRF to prepare a citywide determination of optimal locations for improved street design to encourage walking, cycling, and safety. We first collected existing conditions data and presented priority roadways for the implementation of Complete Street designs for review and input from New Rochelle staff and community stakeholders. We proceeded to conduct walk-and-talk audits with stakeholders to inform six conceptual Complete Street plans, cost estimates, and cross-sections prepared by AKRF. Recommended improvements included road diets, bicycle lanes, wider sidewalks, additional crosswalks, and roundabouts. We are now contributing to Complete Street redesigns for Stratton Road, Quaker Ridge Road, Glenwood Avenue, Webster Avenue, and other local roadways.
