New York City’s largest subway system expansion in 50 years
New York Citywide Ferry
The implementation of New York City Ferry service got off to a flying start, achieving one million ferry riders in fewer than three months of operation that commenced in 2017. AKRF led environmental review pursuant to CEQR for the assessment of five new routes and fifteen new or upgraded ferry landings. Our air quality analysis focused on emissions from the proposed ferry service itself, including the effect of ferry engines on pollutant concentrations near the affected existing terminals and landings and the proposed landings, and on the total emissions burden added in the New York City area. The pollutant analysis addressed carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and respirable particulate matter. AKRF is now leading CEQR environmental review for a proposed expansion of the service.
