Wyandanch Cultural Arts Master Plan

To conceptualize a local and regional identity for Wyandanch, Long Island, as a cultural arts destination, AKRF was retained by the Town of Babylon’s Office of Downtown Revitalization to profile the cultural economy and arts scene, analyze opportunities for the expansion of the cultural economy, and quantify the impact of cultural arts as an economic generator. We then identified strategies to incorporate public art into new development and public spaces, developed a process for coordinating community-wide cultural arts programs and activities, and prepared the roadmap for a Wyandanch Cultural Arts District. This project was supported by a Brownfield Opportunity Area grant from the New York State Department of State.
