What’s your favorite hobby? Building and fixing things.

If you weren’t a fisheries biologist, what would you be? Barista

What’s your favorite thing about working in Maryland and New York City? I love the contrast between NYC’s urban scene and the quiet, rural, wooded two acres behind my house.

What was your first job? Paperboy

Do you have a favorite project? Definitely the Tappan Zee/Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, for which I spent over a decade doing fish monitoring and conservation research.

Are there any misconceptions people have about your field? For my work on offshore wind projects, you might assume that I spend most of my time on a boat. Sadly, I do not.

What’s a piece of advice you would give someone starting in your field? Networking is a great way to generate new opportunities. Don’t spend all your time at your desk – get out and meet people.
