Promoted Officer Interview with Jennifer Franco

Each of our 2023 promoted officers exemplify a deep commitment to professional excellence and leadership with focus, integrity, and authenticity. Get to know Jennifer Franco – our Senior Vice President for environmental review and air quality and a longtime fife player.

What do you like most about working at AKRF? AKRF has a strong culture that strives to educate, grow, and develop staff with positive coaching and mentoring.

Is there a favorite project you’ve worked on? Gowanus Canal CSO Tanks. The public will benefit from a waterbody that is now cleaner and safer than it has been in over a century.

Do you have any hidden talents? I played the fife in an ancient Fife and Drum Corps for 15 years.

What’s your favorite book or author? Edward Rutherford’s New York: The Novel, which made the city come alive through the eyes of a multigenerational family.

What’s your favorite hobby? Cooking – it’s a great way to relax while creating something delicious!

If you weren’t an engineer, what would you be? I have always loved math and science since high school chemistry. I can’t remember ever not wanting to be an engineer.

What’s a piece of advice you would give someone starting in your field? You can do anything you set your mind to, so go for it! If it doesn’t happen, you probably didn’t want it to.
