AKRF provided multi-disciplinary engineering services for a new commercial development in Brooklyn’s Coney Island neighborhood.
AKRF recommended the subsurface exploration be completed using multiple drill rigs to reduce the duration of field time required. AKRF provided full-time Special Inspection and completed the subsurface exploration ahead of schedule. This approach provided the client with significant cost savings.
AKRF’s geotechnical exploration revealed that the soils at the site are susceptible to liquefaction in accordance with the basic liquefaction assessment prescribed in the 2014 New York City Building Code. Our team used advanced site-specific liquefaction evaluation to demonstrate that liquefaction is not a concern at the site.
Based on our explorations, we were able to provide recommendations for the design and construction of a deep foundation system. AKRF will continue to provide design development and construction phase services as the project is further developed.
Our geotechnical engineering services for this project include:
- Historical research
- Subsurface exploration
- Foundation analysis and design
- Special Inspections
- Site-specific liquefaction evaluation
