Site Selection Analysis
AKRF’s GIS group helps clients to locate potential project sites with our site selection analysis capabilities.
We assemble GIS map data for the Region of Interest using databases available from government agencies and/or commercial sources. Primary data layers include administrative and political boundaries; transportation routes; power transmission lines and services; population centers; parks and open spaces; federal lands; water bodies; habitats of endangered species; geologic faults; and air quality non-attainment areas.
Our specialists then apply exclusionary criteria to screen out unacceptable areas and identify and evaluate potential project sites.
The scope of our services includes:
- Regional screening
- Candidate site and corridor evaluation
- Locating and ranking “soft sites” in urban areas for development
- Identifying suitable sites for industrial facilities
