FASNY Greens to Green Conservancy Plan
White Plains, NY
French-American School of New York
AKRF is helping to transform 78 acres of a former country club into a publicly accessible nature preserve in White Plains, NY.
Part of a wide range of environmental services that AKRF has provided to the French-American School of New York (FASNY), our landscape planning and design group facilitated a participatory planning process for the “Greens to Green Conservancy at FASNY,” which will include outdoor classrooms, interpretive signs, walking trails, and extensive habitat and wetlands restoration.
In coordination with AKRF’s natural resources specialists, our landscape architect developed an overall master plan for the property to identify locations for activities and opportunities for restoring the previous golf course vegetation to a healthier mix of native meadow vegetation.
The Conservancy master plan was developed with the input of the FASNY community as well as representatives of Westchester’s environmental open space managers.
When completed the Conservancy will be White Plain’s largest publicly accessible open space in the downtown area.
