Housing

AKRF is committed to the development and preservation of affordable and supportive housing in urban and suburban environments. We work on projects of all scopes and sizes, from single-use buildings like Tres Puentes, St. Augustine Terrace, and Crotona Senior Housing; to large-scale, mixed-use developments with housing components like Bronx Commons, Essex Crossing, and La Central; to HUD Rental Assistance Demonstration projects like the Betances and Bushwick bundles. AKRF has contributed to more than 150 housing-related projects in planning, design, construction, or occupancy throughout New York City, New York’s Hudson Valley, and Philadelphia.

We collaborate with our housing clients to identify and address environmental and engineering issues that may arise during project development and implementation. Our strong relationships with regulatory agencies and familiarity with applicable regulations and financing requirements save our clients time and money — all while moving towards the end goal of building occupation by residents.

With two former environmental planning directors from New York City’s housing preservation and development agency in our planning department, AKRF understands the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s environmental requirements, and how to work with government, developers, lenders, architects, and others active in affordable and supportive housing to bring projects to fruition.
