AKRF leads environmental planning, permitting, and associated studies for public transit projects.

We have worked with transit authorities and other government agencies on system expansion and infrastructure improvement projects for bus, ferry, and light and heavy rail systems.

AKRF has been at the forefront of analyzing and documenting environmental impacts pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act and state and local requirements for the last four decades. Our specialties include evaluations in accordance with Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act of 1966 and Section 6(f) of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act, and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

Our team coordinates extensively with the Federal Railroad Administration and Federal Transit Administration on our rail and transit projects.
