Nuclear Power Plant 316(b) Compliance & Permitting
Over 90 operable nuclear reactors produce approximately one-fifth of the nation's total electrical output.
AKRF has supported multiple nuclear generating stations in their compliance strategy and permitting needs for Section 316(b) of the Clean Water Act, which regulates the design and operation of cooling water intake structures. We have worked with facilities in New York, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
Noteworthy
We have assisted facility owners and operators in assessing the implications of the Section 316(b) regulation for their existing power plants; identifying the schedules for, and the information needed to address, permit application requirements; and developing cost-effective compliance strategies.
AKRF has joined its clients in meetings with state and federal regulatory agencies to gain regulatory concurrence with the proposed approaches for submitting these applications and achieving compliance with standards for the best technology available.
