Improving freight movement across New York Harbor
Goods Movement
The movement of goods by air, land, and sea is supported in each case by robust port facilities, terminals, and infrastructure. AKRF has contributed to a number of transportation plans and programs designed to better understand the drivers and characteristics of local and regional goods movement and prepare for the evolving nature of this fast-moving industry.
AKRF is a joint-venture partner leading environmental review for the Cross Harbor Freight Program to assess the construction of a 4-mile freight-rail tunnel and/or the expansion of an existing rail-car float operation between Jersey City, NJ, and Brooklyn, NY. Other projects include the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey’s Port Master Plan and Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance Program, and the proposed Long Island Truck-Rail Intermodal Facility.
