PhilaPort Strategic Plan
PhilaPort published its new Strategic Plan in 2024, charting a fifteen-year roadmap for the port’s future.
AKRF was part of the consultant team that prepared PhilaPort Strategic Plan: Destination 2040 on behalf of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, aka PhilaPort. The team identified and prioritized over $2 billion in projects and initiatives covering all the port’s districts and terminals.
The plan focused on expanding infrastructure and capacity; diversifying the commodity portfolio; and engaging with local communities and forging partnerships with industry participants.
AKRF was responsible for assessing land use and zoning in the areas surrounding PhilaPort facilities; reviewing local and regional plans potentially including or impacting these facilities; and documenting environmental considerations for each facility, including air quality, sustainability and resiliency, hazardous materials, noise, cultural resources, natural resources, social conditions, and height restrictions.
