Sports & Entertainment

The design and development of sports stadiums, arenas, and related entertainment venues often require complex environmental investigations, permitting, engineering design, and construction oversight to bring these large facilities into operation. Moreover, the large crowds require thoughtful transportation management strategies and traffic engineering plans.

Our projects have included new facilities for the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Brooklyn Nets, and New York Islanders as well as Columbia University and the Brooklyn Cyclones. We also provided engineering services for the New York City Football Club’s new training academy; conducted noise studies for Daytona International Speedway; and provided environmental analysis and planning for Saratoga Race Course — a historic thoroughbred horse racing track — as well as sports facilities on Randall’s Island.

AKRF has worked extensively for the United States Tennis Association, most recently preparing an Environmental Impact Statement for the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Strategic Vision, and previously completing site assessment and remediation services, transportation planning studies, and economic projections.

We also have considerable experience with multi-venue entertainment districts. AKRF was the lead environmental consultant for all analyses in a process that culminated in a physical and economic transformation of the Times Square area, including the preservation of 10 historic theaters.
