UBS Arena & Belmont Park

UBS Arena and Belmont Park Village opened in 2021 and 2024, respectively, as major milestones of the $1.3 billion redevelopment of Belmont Park on Long Island.
The project is transforming surplus land on two parcels at the prestigious horse racing facility into a new professional hockey arena for the New York Islanders and other cultural, community and recreational events, along with hotel, retail, dining, and entertainment uses.
The overall development encompasses two parcels totaling approximately 43 acres of land both north and south of Hempstead Turnpike.

AKRF led preparation of the SEQRA Environmental Impact Statement on behalf of Empire State Development as lead agency. We also worked with ESD and multiple local and state reviewing agencies to incorporate additional analyses of alternatives and mitigation measures, including a new Long Island Rail Road commuter rail station to serve the project and surrounding community.
The EIS received a Notice of Completion in 2019, and we continue to provide environmental compliance monitoring for the project.
JRDV is the lead designer for the exterior of Belmont Park and Populous designed UBS Arena.

Working with NYRA on Belmont Park Improvements
Under a separate contract, AKRF is providing SEQRA environmental planning services to the New York Racing Association for replacement of the grandstand and other facility improvements at Belmont Park on Long Island.
The new venue will feature a five-story structure designed by Populous rising above the 45-acre infield.
