East Falls and Manayunk Flood Mitigation Study
A community-driven flood mitigation study completed by AKRF in 2024 is intended to improve climate resilience for two Philadelphia neighborhoods.
Given their geographic location directly along the Schuylkill River, the East Falls and Manayunk neighborhoods are uniquely impacted by flooding, with riverfront business districts and residents particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of ever-more-extreme weather events.
Major components of the study included stakeholder engagement through community meetings, focus group sectors, and a survey; analysis and synthesis of publicly available data and stakeholder feedback; and the development of recommendations to guide next steps toward neighborhood climate resilience.
