Riverdale Country School
AKRF has provided civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering at Riverdale Country School in the Bronx.
Over the course of numerous projects, we have helped bring new facilities and updated infrastructure to this 1,100-student, pre-K through 12th grade independent school on two wooded campuses encompassing over 27.5 acres of land.
On the River Campus we worked on the new 23,000-square-foot Upper Learning Building that opened in 2016 and the construction of new tennis courts, among other projects. We are currently providing campus planning support.
On the Hill Campus our work has included the new 13,000-square-foot natatorium that opened in 2017; a critical inspection of the 660-foot-tall retaining wall supporting Frank J. Bertino Memorial Field; and a new synthetic turf field hockey field and tennis courts.
We also contributed to the Freight Farm installation: an eight-ton, 40-foot vertical hydroponic shipping container farm installed in 2024 to serve as a sustainable agriculture learning center for students. AKRF is currently designing updates to vehicular and pedestrian circulation on this campus.
