Virginia Beach Flood Protection Program
Storm drainage strategies are being deployed to mitigate flooding issues in three Virginia Beach communities.
AKRF provides federal and state permitting services as part of the Mega Bundle progressive design-build team retained by the City to improve stormwater management and relieve widespread flooding in Windsor Woods, Princess Anne Plaza, and The Lakes.
These communities are located in what was once the undeveloped headwaters of the Lynnhaven River, and the program encompasses new tide gates, flood barriers, pump stations, and channel improvements.
