Grand Central Madison in Manhattan Welcomes Inaugural LIRR Train

Grand Central Madison (aka East Side Access) welcomed its inaugural Long Island Rail Road train, for the first-time providing Long Island and Queens commuters with LIRR service to both sides of Manhattan and direct transfers between the LIRR and Metro-North Railroad. AKRF completed the Environmental Impact Statement pursuant to NEPA in 2001 and continued supporting the $11.6 billion project during engineering and construction.
