Aviation

AKRF has worked at airports large and small to improve airside operations and landside transportation access. We specialize in the preparation of Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements pursuant to National Environmental Policy Act and Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, among compliance with other local, state, and federal regulations. These efforts bring together our specialists in natural resources, cultural resources, air quality, noise, traffic, hazardous materials, local land use, and other disciplines.

We have staff certified with the American Association of Airport Executives; familiar with Passenger Facility Charge applications and funding mechanisms for airport facility improvements; and who have worked on a variety of aviation projects in New York, Boston, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.

Current engagements include serving as owner’s representative for the environmental assessment of a new AirTrain light rail connection between LaGuardia Airport and rail stations at Citi Field/Willets Point in Queens, and leading the environmental assessment for a proposed 2.5-mile extension of Port Authority Trans-Hudson rail service from Newark Penn Station to Newark-Liberty International Airport.
