Transforming a former hat factory into affordable housing
St. Augustine Terrace, for which AKRF prepared the Environmental Assessment Statement, is the first building in 50 years to be built on the site of a former church in New York City. The 112-unit, $54.7 million supportive and affordable housing building was commissioned by the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York and is LEED Gold certified. Thirty-five units are ear-marked for adults with mental illness. The building opened to tenants in November 2018 and celebrated its official grand opening in April 2019.
