Aquatic Studies

AKRF performs aquatic resources studies for a range of purposes, including ecological risk assessments, essential fish habitat assessments, and impact assessments.

AKRF provides quantified assessments of a range of in-water activities, such as dredging and in-water construction of new piers, as well as quantified assessments of potential impacts of waterfront development on nearby aquatic resources.

To assist with these quantified assessments, AKRF has expertise in and resources for designing and undertaking numerous types of environmental sampling, including sampling for fish, benthic invertebrates, sediments, and water quality.

In addition to field studies, we also conduct modeling studies to support these assessments.

The scope of our services includes:

  • Essential Fish Habitats (EFH)
  • Biological surveys
  • Fish population modeling
  • Impact assessment
  • Waterfront development
  • Dredging
