Skipjack Offshore Wind Farm

The planning and permitting of a new 120-megawatt offshore wind farm continues to advance off the coast of Maryland and Delaware. Under development by ├śrsted, the Skipjack Wind Farm will deliver enough clean energy to power an estimated 35,000 homes. AKRF is responsible for evaluating air quality and underwater acoustic impacts, and leading marine mammal and fish biology and ecology to prepare an impact assessment for Atlantic sturgeon, which will facilitate Endangered Species Act and Marine Mammal Protection Act consultation for the project. These technical evaluations will be part of the Construction and Operations Plan that will support the state and federal permitting requirements for the wind farm. Offshore construction is planned to start as early as 2021, with the wind farm coming online in 2022.
