AKRF provided a range of environmental planning services for New York University’s 2031 Master Plan, including analysis of potential traffic, pedestrian, transit, and parking impacts from the project.

NYU will construct nearly three million square feet of new academic uses at their academic core near Washington Square Park in Manhattan, including four new NYU buildings, open space, and parking facilities.

AKRF performed an array of transportation analyses including:

  • A campus-wide travel demand survey
  • Traffic impact analysis of study area intersections
  • Pedestrian impact analysis of area sidewalks, corner reservoirs, and crosswalks
  • Analysis of station elements at four area subway stations
  • Evaluation of vehicular and pedestrian safety
  • Parking supply and utilization analysis
  • Mitigation recommendations to address traffic, transit, and pedestrian impacts
