Ravenswood Generating Station Battery Storage

The New York State Public Service Commission recently approved construction of a 316-megawatt battery storage project proposed by Ravenswood Development, LLC, a subsidiary of LS Power Development, LLC, at the Ravenswood Generating Station in Queens, NY. The project is expected to store enough electricity to power over 250,000 homes over an eight-hour period and represents the largest battery storage installation in New York State to date. The project will draw electricity from the grid during low demand periods, store it, and then release this energy back into the grid in accordance with NYISO and Con Edison dispatch requirements. AKRF prepared an Expanded Environmental Assessment pursuant to SEQRA guidelines, as well as a New York City Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan Consistency Statement for the project. AKRF is proud to be part of LS Power’s development team and their efforts to assist in meeting New York State’s clean energy goals through implementation of battery storage technologies.
