Stonewall House Senior Residences

Stonewall House, the first affordable LGBTQ-friendly senior housing complex in New York City, is now open in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. AKRF provided civil engineering, performed Phase I due diligence services, and led NEPA, SEQRA, and CEQR environmental reviews for disposition and redevelopment of the New York City Housing Authority property. The project’s NEPA review required noise attenuation and site remediation services along with consultation with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The 17-story, 124,000-square-foot building contains 145 units of affordable housing for seniors and a 6,800-square-foot SAGE Center at street level.

NOTEWORTHY

Originally known as the Ingersoll Senior Residences, the project was named Stonewall House in honor of the 1969 riots that launched the modern LGBTQ movement.
